Hmmm, that's something I hadn't considered. It will only affect when
the user has *not* selected a special list of files to commit and
expects the whole tree to be commited -- otherwise I think it's obvious
to the user that their specially selected list of files to commit won't
include any new modified files. Perhaps the commit dialog could keep
track of what revision the tree was at when it scanned for commits. If
the user tries to commit again from the same dialog (with a potentially
stale file-list) it will ask if you want to check for additional
modified files. Saying "Yes" would ensure nothing is missed. Saying
"no" lets you just commit what you had selected.

Perhaps saving the list of specially de-selected files is easier. It
would only need to be from the last commit (attempt) -- that kind of
info is only useful till your (recently killed) commit finally works
(which presumably is done right away).
