Yes, the integrity of the files _is_ verified by Subversion. And with
MD5 checksums.

You can configure apache to use client certificates. Then each transfer,
may it be a commit, update, whatever is checked against that client
certificate.

Wow! 1.8MB?
This makes me think about what will happen if every user out there has a
broadband connection with > 10MBits one day. Maybe then we'll not only
get 2MB screenshots, but whole videos of how the screenshot was made too!

Check out the subversion book. I think all your questions will be
answered there.
