I played around with it some more. No need to restart windows, just logoff and
log on again is enough. But the crash does not happen when clicking on the
launch bar itself, only when right-clicking on an icon on the launch bar.

Some more observations:

* My lauch bar contained links to applications that have been uninstalled. I
wanted to remove these links, that's why I right-clicked on that icon in the
first place. However, right after logon, a right click on any icon on the launch
bar crashes it. Maybe a dead link make a difference?

* After some time (and some crashes), the right click does no longer crash the
shell. But a right click on a valid icon (link destination does exist) pops up
the menu immediately, but it takes some time to pop up the menu for a dead link.

* In the Explore's folder options, I have setting "Ordnerfenster in einem
eigenen Prozess starten" enabled (sorry, don't know the english translation),
because I do not want the shell to crash when the explorer hangs. Maybe this
makes a difference?

Yes. After removing the old version (it think it was 1.0.6) the problem
immediately went away. I did a reboot, then a setup of the latest RC2, and
rebooted again.

Maybe that's next, if the other points don't change anything. I will do some
experiments and send an update later.
