Sure. If the task bar disappears, then the explorer/desktop process crashed.

I can't reproduce that behaviour here on my machine.

Ok, I restarted, and right-clicked on the quick-launch-bar right away,
before even all the programs in my autostart came up. Nothing, no
crash at all.

Did this happen before with older versions too?
And I must ask: did you really reboot after upgrading TSVN?

Maybe you can zip your quicklaunch folder (under
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\QuickLaunch) and send it to me?
Maybe it's one of those links that's different than mine...
