Don't feel bad, I've used Subclipse for about 5-6 years now and I
would have no idea how to do what you want to do. I will say your
working copy needs to be locally accessible.

Maybe you could setup a local tunnel that acts as a proxy to the
repository and then use Subversion locally as if your URL was
something like localhost:port where port is the local end of the
tunnel?
