I'd rather try to help on your install problem. I've never installed
Subclipse in any hacky manual ways so I do not know the answer to your
question. You should just try to fix whatever is wrong in your
current configuration so that you can install it properly. Usually
configurations get broken because people do things like you are trying
to do here rather than install the plugin properly.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you download a stock Eclipse install. Install
Subclipse into it. Then copy the contents out of the features and
plugins folders that the install added.
