This is where I looked, and I see 1.4.2, but since running Eclipse also
offers to upgrade Subclipse to 1.4.2 I don't know if I can trust what's
written there. That is why I would like to somehow verify what is actually
installed.

Ahh, I just noticed the plugins button...

Clicking through the plugins gives me this (a bit of printscreen
combining):

My guess is that nothing actually got upgraded.
