Thanks for the response.

I saw this morning's mail from Eelco Meuter and followed the trail to
the Sun bug report.

One of the comments on that report suggested a workaround whereby the
following line is added to the eclipse.ini file. It seems to have done
the trick for me.

-XX:CompileCommand=exclude,org/eclipse/core/internal/dtree/DataTreeNode,forwardDeltaWith
