ahh thx.
thats it.
Now if eclipse started supporting nested projects then i only would have to
do that once in our root project
But i see that i have to do it per project inside that root project because
some how the plugin looks at the root for this?

My setup is this:

workspace1
  1 project with the root checkout of everything

workspace2
   10+ projects that are all imported from the first workspace by
File->Import->Existing project

If i then am in the first one and i do that add tag thing. I do see those in
all the files in that workspace.
If i then go to the second 1 i don't see it (for the exact same file on
disk) i have to do it then for what
then is the "root" (a subproject)
