[Subclipse-users] Spaces in file/directory names issue

Hi there,

I have ran into an issue that could be a Subclipse /
Eclipse problem. When I compare my project against the
repository (right-click on the project -> compare with
-> base revision) it shows differences that shouldn't
be there since they have not been edited in the
working copy. As a result of the compare I get the
normal "structure compare" overview but every file and
directory with spaces in them is listed as a
difference between the workspace and the repository.
The difference seems to have to do with the space
character, that is compared to a %20 escape sequence.
E.g.
+ 0.1 (onbekend)
- 0.1%20(onbekend)
(I am willing to attach screenshots, but I don't know
if that is the way to go on this mailing list).

I don't know where this %20 comes from. It is not
visible when I browse in my working copy with Windows
Explorer or type dir in a dos box. It is also not
visible when I browse the repository using the "SVN
Repository Exploring". When I do commit to get rid of
the changes, none of these files show under "Checked
resources will be committed to SVN version control".
Instead it shows only the repository root folder as
"modified".

In the project explorer, the files and directories
with spaces look normal and unchanged, i.e. they don't
get an asterisk.

Another problem now is that I just copied a directory
in my project explorer. It has been committed
afterwards but doesn't show in the "SVN Repository
Exploring" but does look unchanged (and not added,
i.e. no "+") in the project explorer. I have no idea
whether this is related to the issue mentioned above
though.

Any idea what's going on here? Googling for several
hours got me nowhere (and it doesn't help that Google
ignores the % character here ;-)

I have been using this setup (Eclipse 3.2, later 3.3.0
with Subclipse 1.2.3 and svn server 1.4.2 (r22196))
successfully every day in the last half year
(totalling 175 commits) on a previous project and
never ran into problems, but that project did not have
file names with spaces in them. One thing I have
changed rather recently is that I shifted my workspace
from an M:\ (network) drive to my local D:\ harddisk.
(I ran checkdisk on this partition and it doesn't give
any errors).

Versions I am using:
- Windows XP SP2, up to date with all windows updates.
- We use the svn:// protocol.
- In Eclipse I am using an XML perspective to list my
projects.
- Was using Eclipse 3.3.0, upgrading to Eclipse 3.3.1
didn't help solving the above problem.
- We ran Subclipse 1.2.3, but upgrading to 1.2.4
didn't help solving the above problem.
- Our Subversion server version is 1.4.2 (r22196).

kind regards,
Bram
