I already got an answer from the bug list:

"The patch that disables the JavaHL API, is not applied on Fedora Core
7, The problem with using JavaHL still exists on Fedora Core 6 because
there are some classloading problems, so a backport of GCJ is needed, I
do not think that will happen anytime soon."

So basically they are saying that I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for
this to be resolved on Fedora Core 6. But based on this information, can
you tell me if building from source will help me?
