Have you seen this bug with 6.10?

There are some workarounds in it that you might understand enough to 
implement.

Last time I tried the Sun JVM you still had to export LD_LIBRARY_PATH to 
get it to see the library.  I think there is only one JVM that is 
automatically using that location as it is supposed to.
