There are valid arguments for doing the exact opposite. Apple
mailing lists never reply to the list as a matter of policy. The
primary issue seems to be that they want to make it hard to have a
private reply exposed to the public list.

I know that Elliot is on at least one of those Apple lists which
would explain why his expectations would be different.
