I had been using JavaHL when the error occured. Now I tried with
JavaSVN, and I don't get the NPE anymore. Instead, I can see the
following in the SVN log:

    svn: URL 'svn://linux02/sgw/trunk/sgw.backend/src/com/artnology/sgw/backend/exchange' non-existent in revision '4.569'
      

Maybe that's also the reason for the NPE?
