I know, but inside the "Find and Install" dialog, there's a button just
beneath the "New Local Site" button that says "New Archived Site", which
doesn't understand Subclipse's archive.
If Subclipse's archive were recognized by Eclipse (thru the New Archived
Site button), the installation would still go thru Eclipse's
Configuration Manager, but wouldn't require that the user manually
extract the contents of the archive.
For a working example of what I mean, download SpringIDE's archived
update site at http://springide.org/updatesite/updatesite_1.2.4.zip, and
install it thru the "New Archived Site" button.
