That is the point. Current implementation of the Synchronize view is
really bad and I do believe that it can be implemented much better and
be more convenient and more informative then *outbound-only* pending
view. It is not about being more svn-like, but about to provide better
usability to support development process.
It is sad that Subclipse does not actually use all Eclipse-provided
features such as change and commit sets, so it can't be very well
integrated with other Eclipse tools such as Mylar.
