I do want to go this way and do need more help :-)

I already told subversion to use plink -ssh (it's in my path), now I get
a command window which seems to wait for something, but I can't type
anything in. The only way to get out seems to be closing this command
window. I'll look in to making a private key and Pageant, thanks.

Some more tips welcome though.
