This particular problem would typically be a bug in Subversion. I
wouldn't normally expect svn status to cause the problem, most likely you
got an error prior to this when you did an update or something.
Start with a good working copy and see if you can recreate the problem
using the Subversion command line. Then report it on the Subversion
users@ list. That error message is just their "final resort" error
message so they usually like to find and fix the root problem.
