subversion 1.2 on Ubuntu anyone?

Ubuntu doesn't even have subversion 1.2 on the roadmap for their *next*
release (Breezy Badger or some such). We have a mixed shop here of
Debian/unstable and Ubuntu/hoary. The unstable people have svn 1.2 and
are happily upgraded to eclipse 3.1rc2 and the latest subclipse but the
Ubuntu users are left behind.

I've tried building the debian 1.2 package on ubuntu but it seems to
have APR and Swig dependency issues. I'm sure that I can work around
them but I thought I would check here first. Has anyone has already
done this found all the workarounds?
