In need of help configuring

I have Eclipse 3.0.2 / EclipseME 0.7.5 / Subclipse 0.9.30 / JavaSVN
Library and Extension 0.8.7.2.

I can checkout a Subversion repository into an Eclipse project but the
automatic compilation fails to happen. If I add a new java file, it
compiles fine but the files from Subversion do not.

Clearly this is just a configuration problem and almost certainly my own
fault but I haven't a clue how to get things compiled up -- the Project
> Build menu items are greyed out.

Any help gratefully accepted. Thanks.
