Subclipse triggering rebuild

Hi,

whenever I use one of the Subclipse-feature like add, update or commit Eclipse rebuilds
my projects and takes forever to do so. My main-project is admittedly large but a full
rebuild takes abot a minute on my computer. When triggered by Subclipse it takes
minutes and sometimes I need to cancel or Eclipse crashes with a out of memory error
although the JVM has been started with -vmargs -Xmx768m as command-line parameter
(computer has 1GB of RAM).

Any clues to why this happens,
