Except that when you double click on the item for comparison, it tries
to fetch the incorrect version.

Also, that's interesting - the HEAD version of the repository? Which
repository? Why is it picking up the external HEAD rather than the
project (up one level, and what I am synchronizing on)?

However, it explains why selecting a whole heap of files and
synchronizing works correctly - each one returns the HEAD version of
itself (for each individual call).
