Nice idea in theory. Unfortunately that wouldn't work for us - we have
repos/trunk/projectA
            projectB
repos/branches/branchA
               branchF
repos/tags/releases/projectA-1.3.0
                    projectA-1.3.1
                    projectB-2.1.0
                    projectB-2.1.1
repos/tags/checkpoints/interesting_code
                       some_different_interesting_code
repos/tags/merges/import_vendorlib_1.3.8
...

In other words, the trunk/branches/tags is at a higher level than the projects.
