Installation of Subclipse causes OSX Eclipse to crash on startup

I installed Subclipse using the OSX version of Eclipse's update
mechanism as outlined on the website, as I had done previously when
using Eclipse on Linux.

After doing the installation and restarting, Eclipse now crashes on
startup with the following error report:

dyld: /Applications/eclipse/Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/java_swt can't
open library: /sw/lib/libapr-0.0.dylib (No such file or directory,
errno = 2)

I could get Eclipse to work again by manually deleting the Subclipse
related files from the Eclipse plugins directory.

Any help would be appreciated,
