WC-NG: Properties

So, I've come into a bit of time to start working on WC-NG. In talking with
Greg in IRC this morning, he mentioned that the properties storage bits of WC-NG
should be parallelizable with the current WC-NG work. So, being a relative n00b
to the WC-NG, what resources should I be looking at, and is there any new design
work which needs to be done prior to hacking on the code?
