Indeed, that deserves a "What were they thinking" header -- that was
not the way to notify affected users. As it happens, I was on
Subversion's front web page (subversion.tigris.org) just last week --
a rather rare occurrence -- but had an objective in mind and nothing
caught my attention. I near-never visit www.tigris.org itself.
(fwiw, I don't see any notification on either place now.)

Wow, more "What were they thinking" -- Subversion lists, at least,
are high-traffic. Thanks very much for patching the svn lists quickly.
