I'll probably add it before 1.5 ships.

As an aside, I don't think we should be changing the deps file for the 1.4
series now that 1.4.0 is out. The next time we update is for 1.5...

For those folks who don't have zlib installed and fetched the deps tarball, I
want them to have an easy path to getting zlib installed. But, yah, doing a
subdir-like configure would be good. It's probably a thing I can whip out at
the summit next month.
