Hello,

I just thought I'd comment on these recent messages. I have absolutely no
objection to you making your work available to the people on this list, and
I'm sure those with an interest in i18n are very happy with the good work
you've done. However, I feel compelled to point out that this list has a
very large subscriber base, and most subscribers will likely be more
interested in retrieving the .po files which have been accepted directly
from the central SVN repository.

As of 2:00 PM today (August 30th, and Central Standard Time, GMT-0600),
there were 1,084 subscribers to the dev@subversion list (thanks, cmpilato
:-). This means that your three messages combined generated over 1,940 MB
(nearly 2 Gigabytes!) of network traffic for the mailing list! Your
original message alone, with its four patches totalling 1.26 MB, generated
1,363 MB of network traffic. Almost all of this is wasted traffic, because
while your message reaches the one person in charge of committing your
changes, it also reaches the 1,083 other people subscribed to the list.

I would like to request that for future amendments to your translation of
Subversion's message resources to Simplified Chinese, you post the .po file
to a web server and provide a URL to the file in the posts to this mailing
list. It will make my life a lot easier, at the very least! My e-mail
client and computer hardware are both old, and your attachment gets treated
inline text. Opening one of your e-mails pegs my CPU to 100% for 5 minutes
while the tens of thousands of lines are flowed in the client's built-in
mini HTML viewer.

Again, don't take this as a criticism of your work, which I'm sure is
excellent. :-) I just would like to avoid having messages appear in my
in-box which freeze my e-mail client for several minutes, as it really is a
nuisance.

I have sent this e-mail to the dev@ list as well, just in case there is
anyone else out there contemplating sending ginormous messages to the list.
:-)

Thank you for your consideration,

Jonathan Gilbert
