That's fine by me, and I'm one of those people who always compiles Subversion
from source (Slackware doesn't carry a subversion package; on Mac OS X, I
prefer to install the client and libraries into my home directory, rather
than overwrite the system's libraries).

However, please make sure you provide clear and unambiguous instructions
about where to get (and how to build) known-good source versions of at
least APR and Neon when you do that, so that I don't have to go looking
for those as well. (Though for the moment, I guess I can depend upon the
in-tree versions shipped with Subversion 1.2.3, which are already
'installed').

There was some discussion about hosting a 'maxi' tarball as well, with
(I assume) in-tree APR and Neon sources. If that happens, then great, as
I won't need to change anything, but if not, as long as it's clear how
exactly I go about building everything else, I'm not too bothered.

Regards,
Malcolm
