Building on OS X yields undefined XML symbols with 1.1.4

I have been building and using subversion on OS X (10.3.8 currently) for
a while without problems, for example 1.1.3 did work fine. I have been
building 1.1.4 today and for the heck it will not run:

$ svn --version
dyld: svn Undefined symbols:
svn undefined reference to _XML_ErrorString expected to be defined in
/usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_GetCurrentLineNumber expected to be
defined in /usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_GetErrorCode expected to be defined in
/usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_Parse expected to be defined in
/usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_ParserCreate expected to be defined in
/usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_ParserFree expected to be defined in
/usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_SetCharacterDataHandler expected to be
defined in /usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_SetElementHandler expected to be defined
in /usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
svn undefined reference to _XML_SetUserData expected to be defined
i/usr/local/svn/lib/libaprutil-0.0.dylib
Trace/BPT trap (core dumped)

Any ideas what went wrong? I did use the following to configure:

configure --prefix=/usr/local/svn \
        --with-ssl --enable-javahl --without-jikes
