I think I understand what these lines are, but can you put them at the
end, instead of the beginning, and maybe put them in parens or square
brackets? It should be made apparent to the casual reader that they
are foreign metadata. They are not descriptive of the change, from
the reader's point of view, so they shouldn't be the first thing the
reader sees.

Whenever you merge, always say what revisions you merged, not just
"the changes". For example:

* branches/meta-data-versioning/owner-group-mode:
  Merged r13259 from branches/meta-data-versioning/text-time to here,
  as they're needed here too.
