Just to clarify:

I'm not advocating rushing any of the new 1.2 features, especially
locking (issue #1478). I'm more talking about defects. The 1.2
milestone contains most of our remaining real-world scalability
problems, plus various other annoying bugs. It would be very nice to
get to a point where all those things are fixed, and only locking is
left to do.
