No, I still think there's a great advantage to having a single author
write the CHANGES description in a single sitting. It makes the
description more readable and more consistent.

At any given moment? How many thousands of 'outsiders' check out /trunk
at random times and want to know what's new? My guess is: almost
nobody does this. Most people either follow development (read the dev@
list, build /trunk frequently), or ignore day-to-day development and
just pay attention to releases. That's my hunch.
