I don't understand the design well enough to really see what you mean.
Can you be more explicit; where is the computation you refer to?

Done.

I fixed everything in the code I could find in HACKING. If I missed
something, do tell.

I'm purposefully not submitting document enhancements until I get an
"ok" for the design & code.

New version of patch attached.
