Maddening SSL certificate problem

From: Michael Sperber <sperber_at_informatik.uni-tuebingen.de>

Like some others, I have to say "y" multiple times every time I use
Subversion, for answering

Error validating server certificate: Certificate expired or not yet valid. Accept? (y/N): y

I've tried setting "ssl-authorities-file" (and, by truss, it's getting
read), and that doesn't work.

I have to admit that I created the server certificate myself, after a
lengthy trial-and-error session with the relevant docs, so the
problem could be there as well.

If there's a for-dummies guide on setting up
Apache-over-SSL-for-Subversion, or anyone could help with this, it
would be very much appreciated.
