Vincent, are you sure you got the same environment setting Philip got?
His syntax for setting the 'LANG' variable before starting gnumeric
might be different from yours, depending on shell. It's odd that you
and he supposedly did the same thing with the same software and got
different results.
(However, I must say that my understanding of this issue matches
Philip's and Brane's.)
