Complete stab in the dark but it seems like your aclocal macro expansions failed.

I'm sorry, I'm not an expert. But that's what I get out of your output.

Somehow the autogen.sh isn't checking return codes, or if it is, gen_make.py,
isn't propagating them.

My two cents from the output. I haven't looked any further.

Let me know if you want me to dig. But I'm pretty sure there are people more
familiar with that part of the build system than I.

I'm willing to pitch in if need be.
