I'm not interpreting constructive criticism as anything other than that.

I am utterly beset with total confusion at the number of different
opinions on how I need to fix the log messages.

I can't do something unless I know which way is up. I'm not getting a
lot of help on itemized directions. I'm getting a lot of "go read this
and this and this".

If I'm not getting it from just reading it, obviously I need something
other than being beat over the head with it?
