What about separating the VS.NET dev environment from the working copy?

What if VS.NET were looking at a WebFolder of a branch, rather than an
actual WC?

Developers would use WCs only for merging their changes into the trunk.

Eventually, svn will support WC-less operations, and developers wouldn't
have to use WCs at all, except on platforms without WebDAV filesystem
support?
