".svn" directory name no good

From: Ronald Cannes <roncannes_at_hotmail.com>

I have a couple of programs that doesn't like the fact that the subversion
wc directories starts with a period, i.e. ".svn"

For instance, we cannot put ASP.NET directories under Subversion control
because Visual Studio.NET cannot "get folder information" or something like
that. Removing .svn directories make things "work" again.

I noticed the problem description on Google, but no resolution :-(

I also have a file commander (ala Norton Commandor) that fails miserably
when I open directories containing .svn directories.

Do you:

1) Know a work-around for ASP.NET projects?

2) Plan to change the directory name to something Windows can handle
properly in general?

Thanks.
