No, you didn't, it's all true. Paul is working on a 0.28.2 release.
The bug in 0.28.0 and 0.28.1 made the server much less scalable -- it
couldn't handle more than a few simultaneous checkouts, for example.

Revision 6920 is the fix, if you need to apply it directly before
0.28.2 is available.
