Maybe most or many of the stuff in "tools" could be renamed to "contrib"
if it is not officially supported by the project? Only the officially
supported stuff could be put/left in "tools".

That would make it crystal clear in my mind what is supported and what is
not.

Please don't put "cvs2svn" in "contrib"! :-)
