How are the RH9 RPMs for 0.25.0 going? I'm a complete newbie when it comes
to RH9 and RPMs so I'm not at all confident in getting Subversion installed
any other way.
On a side note, when trying to install the 0.24.2 RPMs, I found that the
openssl package had to be updated as well on a vanilla RH9 installation.
Could the appropriate openssl RPM be added to the summersoft.fay.ar.us
distribution site? It would make it a whole load easier for newbies such as
myself.
Is there any way we can get the RH9 port of apt-get working with the
Subversion packages at summersoft.fay.ar.us? The whole package dependency
ordeal when manually installing RPMs is really frustrating for someone just
starting out (I never did get all the 0.24.2 RPMs successfully installed).
apt-get seems to be a much nicer solution as it handles the dependencies for
you. I found rpmfind as well, but that seems to be only a halfway solution
to the functionality that apt-get provides. I can hear people saying, "If
you want apt-get, why don't you install Debian?" I have the Debian Woody
install CDs, but I'm trying to repress the horrors of the terribly
unfriendly Debian Woody installer. The oh-so friendly RH9 installer worked
flawlessly, so RH9 it is.
I'm keen to get a Subversion repository going on a RH9 machine as I do not
want to put up for another WinXP license. If I cannot get a repos going on
RH9, then I will have no choice but to use WinXP (which I am far more
familiar with).
