Normal Archive Lag

how current is the mailing list archive supposed to be. There was a thread I wanted to reread from a couple of days ago and noticed that the archive's most recent mail is from 3-jul-2003. Is that normal lag, or is there a problem? Could someone let me know what the lag is on the archive, so I know how long to wait, and so I can keep emails around that long)?
