I have noticed 'svnadmin dump' taking huge amounts of memory on a couple
of my repositories, also...haven't had it die yet, however. The
repositories are 150MB or so in size and svnadmin memory usage shoots up
  to 450MB+ and then drops again several times before it completes. I
will try to track it down this weekend if no one else has.
