This segues nicely into my comment on the topic.

We have four repositories at work. Two which are "mine" and two which
belong to the developers. The ones that were "mine" I switched to
subversion about a month or so ago. The thinking being "if I didn't
like it, or found it buggy, I could revert the repositories to CVS like
they had been, and only me, the sysadmin, would be affected".

I announced on friday to our developers that my experiment had been a
success, and that we were going to convert, possibly next weekend, the
CVS repository to a SVN repository, and gave them a link to the "SVN
for CVS users" appendix of The Book.

They're ecstatic. They can't wait for the conversion. They're
committing code like mad from their sandboxes so that the change can
happen as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Your developers will love you. :-)
