Ah, the light dawns....I bet it broke when I upgraded to the latest RedHat
errata last week.

rpm -q glibc db4
glibc-2.3.2-4.80
db4-4.0.14-14

Thanks for the pointer! I'll go investigate whether I need to either
recompile a library or back of to a previous version of an RPM.
