Actually, the CollabNet developers are well aware that this stuff needs to
work well over a NFS-mounted drive, since that's the primary environment
our customers pay us for. Modern NAS systems like a NetApp actually make
the types of operations that are usually expensive, like opening and
seeking in a directory with 1000+ files, really efficient.

But to echo everyone's point, running code is what's needed now to
convince them your point has merit.
