Open both the original file and the file you checked out on Linux in a hex
editor and examine the differences between the raw bytes, and/or post a link
to both copies. If there are no differences, that probably means Windows was
actually saving it as UTF-8 but your Linux editor doesn't understand (or
isn't configured for) UTF-8.

Otherwise, we'll have to figure out where and how Subversion is mangling the
files. (I was under the impression that Subversion only modifies line
endings (and only if svn:eol-style is set), so is this even possible?)
