hot-backups for BDB

This is hopefully a simple question. I notice the hot-backups script is
written in Python. Anybody out there have a perl or .BAT version of the
script that I can give my admin? It would be nice if it cleaned up the log
files as well.

I don't really want to learn both Perl and Python just to covert a single
script. I know I'll eventually have to learn both, but ... not right now.
